I know all too well the struggles that come with owning a challenging dog. Liberty and I learned the hard way, but it doesn’t HAVE to be hard. That's what I'm here for...to guide you and coach you along the way. After my experience with Liberty, I realized that this is what I had to do! I wanted to help other owners and their dogs fix their relationships and find balance, calm, and be able to enjoy each other once again. I had no choice but to immerse myself in dog training and help others facing similar struggles.
So, here we are! I believe that with a balanced training approach we can change the dog’s state of mind, which is where the real magic occurs. The real training isn’t in teaching the dog obedience commands, but in shifting their mindset so that they can learn to deal with life in a confident and positive way. I've seen the results first hand and I can tell you that balanced training is the most effective method for helping fearful, aggressive, reactive, anxious or hyperactive dogs.
What exactly is balanced training? We use praise, food, or toy rewards to teach new behaviors and to positively reinforce when the dog successfully completes a command. Once the dog completely understand what is being asked of them, a correction will be given for non-compliance. Corrections are NOT done with yelling, dominance, or out of a punishing mindset. We use tools that are effective communicators (slip lead, prong and/or e-collar) to deliver mild, low-level corrections. We use a calm, neutral tone of voice and calm, relaxed body language...always.
